Taos Door

I took this photo on a lovely summer afternoon in Taos New Mexico.

I love this photo as it evokes many things for me comfort, beauty, curiosity, ease, warmth and an invitation to push them open.  I like to imagine what’s on the other side? Do you?

I can almost hear the birds chirping, the wind rustling through the trees, nearly smell the scent of the flowers and feel the warmth of the wood under my hands as I imagine leaning into the doors slowly pushing them open.   My breath held with anticipation and curiosity of what’s on the other side.  It could be the doorway to a beautiful garden, a meadow, a labyrinth, a busy street, an ocean beach, or anything else that one could imagine.  Are you curious?   I invite you to discover what’s on the other side.

To me this whole scene represents life and our many journeys.  The doors represent the untapped treasures of our inner spirit – or Inner Source of all knowing and all possibility.  The place to nurture our spirit, discover our passions, play with abandon, be adventurous, and create our hearts desires.  Really look at those doors, with those worn handles.  Don’t you wonder who has gone there before?  There is mystery and wisdom in those old doors.  As I take pause, I see the path leading to the doorway – placed there one stone at a time.  Just like life one step at a time.  I invite you to take in the whole picture.  What do you see, hear and feel?
